The Gospel IS The Message

If we want to live our lives purposefully, as the family of God, we really need to know our message. What is the message we are living for?

The Message

The truth to this question is the Gospel. The Good News of Jesus Christ is to always be the answer. He is always to be our message. When we speak, we don’t share our own words – but God’s. We allow God to be the voice that is raised, not our own. We don’t live for our own desires, but for the hope of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel Truth

We do this, because of the amazing, abundant, unending hope of the Gospel. Jesus Christ is our hope, and reason for existence. Jesus Christ is the One who has the job to “proclaim good news to the poor… proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor (Lk. 4:18-19).”

Jesus Christ is our HOPE!

He is the One who has come to set us free. After many years of being enchained to our sins, burdens, and afflictions, Jesus Christ has come for this very reason. To set us free. God, through Jesus Christ, wants us to come to Him and experience His miraculous healing on many levels. It is not just physical. It is not just emotionally. It is not just spiritually. Jesus Christ has brought the whole package with Him. He wants us to experience healing and victory on every area of our lives.

And, this is the message we proclaim – Church!

This is the message worthy of such attention, that we keep proclaiming and sharing.

Jesus Christ has come for us. He has come to redeem us and speak into our lives. He has come, so we may have a relationship with our Creator. Remember, sin has separated us from God. But Jesus Christ has come – taking on the penalty for our sins, so that we could have life and a right relationship with our Creator. A love relationship with our Creator. It is made possible through Jesus Christ!

The Scripture

“I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said (1 Cor. 15:3-4).

“I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ. Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you. I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed (Gal. 1:6-9).”

“With Christ as my witness, I speak with utter truthfulness. My conscience and the Holy Spirit confirm it. My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them... Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved (Rom. 9:1-3, 10:1).”

What is the longing of your heart?

How can you make your life about the Gospel?

How can you join His people to live out His Good News?

I am reminded of what we are taught in the book of Deuteronomy. We can talk about Jesus and His amazingly Good News – as we are walking and living and moving and building relationships with people. Let’s be about that, today!

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates (Deut. 6:4-9).
